In the October 2013 Budget, it was announced that over a two year period a person could avail of “The Home Renovation Incentive Scheme” for works carried out on their principle place of dwelling.
The Home Renovation Incentive Scheme will provide an income tax credit to homeowners carrying out work on their home within the next two years. The credit will be calculated at 13.5pc on spending between €5,000 to €30,000.
Works that will qualify for tax relief includes extensions, renovations, windows, plumbing, tiling and plastering.
